Show Notes: 8/20/10
Welcome to the new section on the WICH.com website. I’ll post the show notes here each month, and also any questions and answers that were given on the show, and any answers if I had to research them. So here we go…
For the full story, you can read here at Computerworld. What does this mean to you? And what should you do? Well, you should always allow Microsoft to do it’s monthly updates. XP, Vista, and 7 all have this set as automatic. On the second Tuesday of every month, if Microsoft feels it needs to update things, it will send out a patch. Sometimes updates have choices, like when they release a new version of Internet Explorer. Right now IE is at version 8, and I HIGHLY recommend being updated to this version. If you are still running IE6, you are vulnerable to all sorts of infections and hacks and bad web experience. To update to the latest version of IE, just head over to http://www.microsoft.com and right there under “popular downloads” is a link. Do it. You’ll enjoy safer web browsing and an all around better experience. And you will be helping Microsoft out by not using IE6, which is no longer supported by their team.
